CBA Physiology and Cardiovascular Phenotyping (PCP)

Overview of Services

The Physiology and Cardiovascular Phenotyping Core (PCP) is a Scientific Service within the Center for Biometric Analysis.  PCP provides state-of-the-art phenotyping support and scientific consulting, including assistance with experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, as well as training for researchers interested in becoming proficient in the skills necessary to conduct physiological and cardiovascular phenotyping. The staff utilizes standardized techniques to characterize the structural and functional properties of the heart and vascular system.

The modalities offered include non-invasive blood pressure, high frequency and high-resolution ultrasound, electrocardiography (EKG), and DSI Telemetry to measure blood pressure and EKG in untethered mice. Additional services include electrophysiological tests to assess vision, hearing and sleep monitoring, and DEXA for measurement of body composition.
